Marija Djokic was born in Serbia. In 2010, she graduated with an Applied Arts degree from the Department of Graphic Design at the Faculty of Philology and Arts in Kragujevac.Workingin graphic design since 2012, she also began designing and making fashion accessories. In 2018, she became a permanent member at the Textiles and Contemporary Clothing Department of the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia (ULUPUDS).
In 2012, Djokic establishedDarmara tohandcraftfashion accessories and clothing using only Italian leather in combination withsemi-precious stones, crystals, metal elements and glass beads. Thework is based on traditional techniques ofcutting, drilling, gluing, drawing and sewing of leather elements.Suchapproach excludes the possibility of mass production which makes Darmara pieces unique or only produced in limited editions.
